An existing second-floor parlor was transformed into a serene and sophisticated primary bedroom. Taking cues from their historic home’s original full wall paneling and traditional millwork, the homeowners set out to reinterpret these classic elements through a modern lens. The result is a thoughtful fusion of old and new, which honors the home’s historic character while introducing contemporary floor-to-ceiling paneling that now frames the bed as a striking focal point. The tall front-facing bay windows remain a defining feature, offering abundant natural light and picturesque views of their neighboring park.
Across the bedroom, a bold, modern aesthetic takes hold in the ensuite bath. Floor-to-ceiling dark, moody tile surrounds a double floating vanity, creating a dramatic yet calming atmosphere to start and end the day. Warmth and functionality are balanced with full-height linen storage, offering generous space without compromising style. The carefully detailed walk-in shower becomes a focal point of its own, where layered tile selections and refined fixtures come together with intention and precision. The perfect place to wash and renew.
The former bedroom was reimagined into separate his-and-hers closets, each tailored to reflect the client’s individual personalities and styles. These dedicated spaces provide both function and a sense of personal expression, a place to dress and express.
While the remaining portion of the original bedroom now serves as a private home office. A full-scale landscape wallpaper envelops the room, setting an elevated tone that inspires focus, creativity, and flow.
"We went through a lot of iterations and finally distilled the design down to what fit our needs both aesthetically and within our budget." Minneapolis, MN Homeowner
